Rhodonite is a mineral species of the silicate group, inosilicate subgroup of the pyroxenoid family, composed mainly of oxygen, manganese and silicon. Manganese can be partially replaced by other bivalent cations, such as iron, magnesium and calcium. Its ideal chemical formula is (Mn2+,Fe2+,Mg,Ca)SiO3 with traces of Al and Zn.
